SMD Taping & Reeling

What is smd taping & reeling?

ISI provides a professional SMD taping and reeling service for electronics manufacturers across the United States. We handle ICs, capacitors, resistors, and a wide range of other surface-mount components, protecting them against ESD, environmental damage, and transit mishaps by placing them into carrier tape ready for direct pick-and-place line feed.

Our SMD Taping & Reeling Capabilities

Device Handling

Components are managed in a controlled environment where static, humidity, and temperature are all monitored.

Labeling & Marking

Kapton and polyester labeling supported alongside laser marking for lot and date coding.

Vision Inspection

3D inspection available on lead position and pitch, helping customers keep error rates low and production rates high.

Stock Management

Secure stock holding service for customers running call-off programs.

Bare Die Option

Bare die and wafer-level packages can be taped alongside standard SMD components. See our Bare Die Tape & Reel page for details.

Why Manufacturers Choose Us

FAQ's

What is the process of tape and reel?

Tape and reel is the process of packaging electronic components into individual carrier tape pockets, sealed with heat or pressure cover tape, then wound onto an industry-standard reel for loading onto pick-and-place equipment.

What tape widths are available?

Tape widths from 4mm to 200mm are available, with spacing between components from 2mm upward. Standard reel diameters include 7-inch for small components and 13-inch for larger items.

What standards does your taping and reeling meet?

Our processing is carried out to EIA-481-D, with handling in line with JESD625-A (ESD-sensitive device handling) and IEC 61340-5-1 (electrostatic protection).

Can taping be combined with device programming?

Yes. Many customers combine IC programming with taping and reeling, receiving programmed devices back on tape to their exact pitch and reel specification.
